Men's soccer sets goals for season

Bob Warming is less than pleased with the Penn State men's soccer team's road record over the past four seasons. While the Big Ten Tournament will take place at Jeffrey Field and the yearlong 100-year celebration of the program, the first-year head coach knows if the team wants to contend for a title, it will start on the road.

Lions look to fine tune details in last preseason game

Ideally, Bob Warming would like his team to have at least two more preseason exhibitions on its schedule. The Penn State men's soccer coach knows his squad can benefit from traveling together and learn to come together as a team with extra practice in a game scenario.

Walsh, Cook to face former coach

Years before they started taking the sideline together at Penn State, Erica Walsh and Ann Cook were teammates at William & Mary. This Sunday, the two will simply have to turn to their right and look down the touchline to see a familiar face from their past, a man they refer to simply as "JD".

Lions to take advantage of defensive depth

Andres Casais considers all of his teammates his brothers, a group that plays for each other and wins as a team. But the senior centre back has an even closer bond with his brotherhood on the back line of defense.

Players impressed by Warming

Mark Fetrow has played soccer all his life, is a starting centre back and was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman team in 2008, but first-year coach Bob Warming has managed to teach the junior a few things he never knew.

Senior midfielder Matheus Braga (7) drives the ball past three Hartwick defenders on Saturday at Jeffrey Field. Braga is one of five seniors hoping to end their college careers with a successful season.

Seniors look to end on high note

The posters are being given out all around town: 100 years of history and greats from the past subdued in the background as five current men's soccer players erupt forward into the future.

Defense stands tall together in scrimmage

As a heavy drizzle picked up to a light rain late Saturday night, Bob Warming stood soaked and satisfied under the bright lights of Jeffrey Field.

It's a common thread among many that travel the long and cold road to State College -- there's something about Penn State that grows on a person and prevents him from leaving.
