Campaigns utilize weekend

Today's deadline to register to vote in Pennsylvania spurred a flurry of campaign activity this weekend as John McCain's and Barack Obama's State College offices canvassed and registered voters locally.

Theft: A resident of 138 S. Atherton St. reported a gray Dell Inspiron laptop computer valued at $1,000 was taken from her residence sometime between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 2:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. Police said there was no sign of forced entry.

State College police nab men with drugs

An all-night road trip from Philadelphia to State College ended for two men Saturday morning after a State College police officer pulled them over after blowing a red light -- and found more than half a pound of marijuana in the trunk of their car, police said.

Illegal Drugs: Penn State student Michael A. Marzano was arrested at 11:36 p.m. Wednesday for possessing a fake identification card and illegal drugs, Penn State Police said. Marzano, 20, was attempting to enter Cell Block, 420 E. College Ave., and provided police with a fake Texas driver's license. Police also found illegal drugs on Marzano, police said. Charges will be filed, police said.
